Track and Field Competes at Colonial Relays
April 4, 2008 Williamsburg, Va. - The Fordham University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads open competition at the 43rd Colonial Relays held at Cary Field on the campus of the College of William and Mary on Friday. Melissa Salerno led the way on the first day, scoring in the 1500m by taking sixth in a season-best time of 4:38.25. Also finishing in the top 20 for the women were Catherine Groene, who was tenth in the 400m hurdles (season-best 1:06.07); Brigid Moriarty, who placed 13th in the 5000m (18:06.56) and Natazia Fistrovic, who took 17th in the javelin (90' 5"). On the men's side, Matt Lowenthal and Tom Finnerty were the top finishers, placing 15th in the 800m and 1500m, respectively. Lowenthal covered the 800m in a time of 1:56.54 while Finnerty was clocked in a season-best 3:57.75 in the 1500m. Also placing in the top 20 for the men were Chris Kozlowski, who was 17th in the shot put (45' 3.75"); Matt DiBuono, who was right behind Kozlowski in the shot put, taking 18th (44' 7"); Clifton Hilario, who took 18th in the 800m (1:56.86) and Justin Kopunek, who finished 20th in the 3000m steeplechase (season-best 10:01.35). The Rams will close out competition at the Colonial Relays on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. |
